FAQ
How much does it cost to add subtitles to a video?
With AI transcription it's cents per minute. HappyScribe lists top-up credits at $0.20 per minute, and plans include minutes: Basic $17/mo (120 min/mo), Pro $29/mo (600 min/mo) and Business $89/mo (6,000 min/mo). Billed yearly they're $8.50, $19 and $59 a month (happyscribe.com/pricing, checked 2 October 2026). Human proofreading starts from $2.00 per minute.
What's the cheapest way to caption a few product videos?
For a handful of minutes a month, pay-as-you-go top-ups ($0.20/min with no subscription, per HappyScribe's FAQ) usually beat a plan. Free-plan export limits apply, such as watermarked MP4. If your videos are on YouTube, its automatic captions are free to review and fix.
Which HappyScribe plan do I need for VTT subtitles?
HappyScribe lists VTT, STL, XML, FCPXML and EDL exports from the Pro plan up. Basic exports TXT, SRT, PDF and DOCX, and SRT works on most platforms.
Do unused minutes roll over?
According to HappyScribe, plan minutes reset each billing cycle but purchased top-up credits stay in your balance until used. Yearly plans give a yearly minute pool.
Do I need an AI video maker too?
Only if you also need to create the videos. InVideo Starter is $20 per seat per month (invideo.io/pricing, checked 1 October 2026). Tick the option to see it.
Are the links affiliate links?
The HappyScribe and InVideo buttons are affiliate links, so StoreVetted may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The free alternatives aren't, and the pick is just the cheapest option for your inputs.
